Mr. Robot

My favorite show Mr. Robot is on again I hope your all watching it.  I know it's a bit strange and not what you actually expected.
Is what is happening in that show real or possible?  Maybe and probably but most likely.
Are you in danger of getting infected?  Probably.
Is there anything you can do to prevent it?  Yes don't open the email mail that says you won the Nigerian Lottery.  You didn't go to Nigeria did you?  did you buy a lottery ticket?  so then how could you win the lottery?  if you open it or send someone money then you deserve to get infected.
The best way to protect yourself from getting infected is unplug the computer and sink it in a block of cement.   Let the cement dry then toss it into the ocean and make a reef.  The fish will love you.

I suggest you all stock up now on essentials.  Most of you don't know how to survive without the internet for more than a few minutes anyhow.  Those of us that are older remember what live was like before the internet.  We used to talk to each other face to face.  It's pretty scary but we survived.

I have to go now and unplug stuff around the house.  I'm worried they will hack my toaster and make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches without me knowing and then I'd be stuck with all those sandwiches.  I like PB&J but I can only eat so much which means I'd have to give away a lot of sandwiches which might not be a bad thing.

Oh and if you have a smart TV I wonder who is watching who?

America's political Joke on the world

A big retarded nation is about to vote for a new political leader and all of them are damaged goods except one and unfortunately he's not leading to get the nomination.
Let's look at Donald Trump okay you really don't have to physically look at him but examine what he's done.  He's proved that the media is his puppet and the mass population is hypnotized by their media be it TV or smart phone or what ever sources they get information from.  He spews nonsense, does unreasonable things and everyone just goes "Oh it's just Donald, so it's okay", and then he wins. tell me that's not messed up.  I don't think he ever thought he would get this far.  Any descent candidate never even got close to being nominated.  Then there was Ted Cruz this is anomaly of unexplainable proportions. The man has done nothing for the last 8 years, caused the shut down of the government at a cost of 42 billion dollars.  Runs around waving the bible like he actually believes it and people keep re-electing him.  I sincerely think there is something in the drinking water.

As for Hillary Clinton, the closest she should ever get near the White House again is as a tourist. This is nothing more than an opportunist looking for the Oval Office. The only reason she moved to NY was because they had the shortest residency requirements.  Voting for her because of her gender is crazy at best. As any of her supporters what she's done to deserve the office and none of them can tell you a single thing she's accomplished. No she did not get health care approved, she tried but not even close. People were more concerned with who Bill was sleeping with and the answer was everyone except Hillary.

That leaves us with Bernie Sanders. I got nothing bad to say about this guy except he should have run as an independent.  His career might not be stellar but he's stuck to his principals his entire life.  Folks like to call him a "Socialist" like it's a bad thing but really it's not.  If you look at America it's a Socialist Democracy.  We have tons of social programs starting with 'Social Security', police, fired, schools, public works and the list goes on.  All those things you love and take for granted are social programs. But it's not free and the next time some rich person tells you Social Security is free remind them you paid for that your whole life and now it's your turn to get some.

I have to get back to work now so just save my space or add your comments.

Australia no more shrimp on the barbie

Recently a story ran about the destruction of reefs in Australia caused by global warming and bleaching of the reefs.  Bleaching is when the reefs die because the temperature of the water is too high.  The reef turns white then dies.  If you should be fortunate enough to go diving or snorkeling then you would see this first hand.  Seeing it on a video really does not instill the death and destruction occurring.  There is no color no life on the reef.  It's like being in a cemetery. The government of Australia does not want the UN to label this a problem because it would cost them a loss of money in tourism.  Maybe they should think what happens if it dies.

In 1986 I met a professer that was at the UNESCO confrence being held in Indonesia. He said they were there to have a confrence on the enviornment so I told him about the bleaching on the reefs back then that was 30 years ago. I suggested he go diving and see it first hand. I doubt he ever did. Now they are talking more about it having another confrence and making statements and no one is doing a damn thing. The world is full of brilliant people that know how to write a paper and have a confrence and give a lecture. A massive useless bunch of brain power. Those willing to do something just can't seem to gain traction in this world. I'm sorry so many will never see the beauty of the seas. I urge everyone to get out and go diving and see it first hand. It's like being witness to a mass grave. I would cry but it causes my mask to leak.

If you care go dive or snorkel share what see.

Revols earbuds a scam or a jam?

I've seen lots of stuff about these so called wonder earbuds called Revols with the magic ear tips that fit to your ear with an app.   You can see more about them here.  https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/revols#/
The Revols people seem to be doing a lot of traveling on investor money and I have not seen any reviews on this product.  I have not heard anyone at Onkyo indicate they are involved in the product.
I'm just saying is all.  It would be nice to see some prototypes, samples, an update on the product progress.  Or was this a venture capitol tech project that is going to fade away with our money?
Some projects seem to good too be true.  Is this one of those?

Trump Vs. Female Reporter

As almost everyone knows Jeremy Clarkson grabbed a female reporter named Michelle Fields.
I've seen the video as many of you have but I wonder was she getting too close to Mr. Trump?  Was he really so rough with her?  Who violated who's space?   Or is this all a big deal so Ms. Fields can get her 15 minutes of fame?  She had an altercation with a celebrity back in 2011 which landed her a spot on FOX news.  And those bruises on her arm are no worse than I get from a day working in the yard.  It's on video he grabbed her no doubt,  but it was clearly to pull her away.   A low level reporter trying to make a name for herself at the expense of a controversial candidate?
I agree Trump is far from saint hood and has a trash mouth,  but in all fairness was this really such a big deal?  or is Ms. Fields just fishing for her 15 minutes of fame?

Fighting over reclining airplane seats

On October 19th, 2015 there was another flight delaying fight on a plane because someone reclined their seat.
I believe this is the airlines Fault.  Why you ask because they reduced the seat space and still allow the seats to recline. Seat space has gone form a tolerable 34 inches down to an annoying 28 inches.
So who's fault is that?
If I pay for a reclining seat I want to recline.  I paid extra.

Lollipop for Android sucks

After much research and many, many threads across the web it's clear we are all over the place with the same conclusion Lollipop sucks and has killed Bluetooth!
If you haven't made the move to Lollipop versions 5.0.2 and 5.1
I would suggest you hold off,  check the internet for your phone and see if  it's killed your Bluetooth and possibly your Wi-Fi too.

It might a bigger problem if you Have Apt-X installed on your phone and headphones   It seems like something has gone seriously wrong with update coding.  Okay plain and simple the Lollipop version for Android Sucks!!!!!

Happy October

Yes it's October 2015.  Time is just whizzing by and soon it will Halloween and then Christmas and then New Years and we'll be happy or sad depending on what your doing.  So much pressure, the feeling and need to celebrate something be somewhere buy something for someone you don't really like.  I have a solution!  Yes I know you figured you were screwed again.  Look it's really simple all you have to do is a little planning and buy a freaking plane ticket and go away!  Travel with strangers feel no pressure be who ever you want.  Heck make shit up as you go along!  Stop feeling guilty.  Look it's not easy but if you plan right now you can be on a plane to some place warm and sunny.  Shit I left one day and didn't go back at all.  I've got internet and I'm good.  Yeah I know you've got a million obligations, I say kick em to the curb.  Throw caution to the wind and buy that ticket you know you want to.  See the world before they blow it up.  Take a cruise! Just find a hidden place with a nice lounge chair and let someone else sweat the holidays.  Oh and don't drink your self silly.  You'll just fell sick afterwards.  Yeah it's sounds crazy but why be normal?  what is normal? to me it's a toasty beach while everyone else is figuring out how to dig out of the latest blizzard.  Let em eat snow!  Yellow snow!

Moto G Bluetooth Fails

Moto G 2nd Generation has a problem with Bluetooth on Android 5.02.
I spent almost 4 days speaking directly with Motorola and their so called level 3 tech support and they figure it's my devices fault and refuse to do anything about it.  Now note that before my phone was upgraded from KitKat to Lollipop the Bluetooth worked just fine.
We went through many trouble shooting steps including the all dreadful resetting the entire phone.
Now if it was just my device that had a problem I would leave this issue alone,  but if you google Moto G and Bluetooth you will find thousands of people having this problem.
Bluetooth is not supposed to be a hit or miss thing,  it's an industry standard.

Here is the problem.  When I connect a device the Wi-Fi shuts down after 5 minutes.  Not 6, but exactly 5 I timed it.  Now because this happens with one set of headphones and not the others they decided to blame the device.   I tried the headphones in question on multiple other Bluetooth items like other phones,  my iPad running iOS 9.1  and the headphones work fine.  I even have a USB dongle in my computer and they work fine there too.
Just to be clear my headphones that don't work with the Moto G are Sennheiser for 350$ and the others that do work are Kinivo BTH220 that cost 20 dollars.  The difference is that the Sennheiser have a codec called APT-X which is supposed to improve the quality of the Bluetooth not cause it to cancel it out.

So if your Moto G has a problem with Wi-Fi turn off the Bluetooth and it will probably work.  Try another Bluetooth device and see if it works.   Or just don't buy the Moto G.  Which is a shame because mostly it's a good phone at a great price.  But with no Bluetooth you can't use it when driving.

I welcome all comments from anyone with a Moto G in hopes of finding a solution that Motorola seems to be not interested in providing.

What's in the cloud? do I need it and where is it?

The cloud is alive with sound of money, and your data.   It's really nothing more than a place to keep your data on someone else's computer.  Originally the cloud was known as a "Dumb Terminal".  This was a time before the personal PC and storage devices.    Originally computers where massive boxes with little computing power that you could connect to over a wire.  In the late 60's they figured out how to use a system of addressing to send the data out over public wires.  In a short description it was just a terminal and a keyboard the mouse hadn't been invented yet.

So what's all this buzz about subscription software?  Why the big deal about this cloud?
Think of it as leasing a car,  you pay and pay and pay and when you can't pay they take it away.  They promise to make sure you have the latest and greatest software while you pay.  But, now they have you hooked like a junkie.  You need more space so you pay more money.  Forget to pay and they take it all away.

Oh sure it has it's upside you can access you data from where ever you are and so can every hacker on the planet.  But really do you need to access that data?  Did you need a picture of your cat that badly?  And do you want to pay for subscription software forever?  Look at your cable bill,  soon it will be your internet bill.

I suggest you keep owning your computer, owning your software.  Really what do you do with your computer that requires updating every day?

Go ask a Republican

Go ask a republican, Ask them simple questions.
Keystone pipeline make them explain the massive amount of jobs. They can't because the jobs are only temporary.
Ask them how the affordable health care act hurt the economy, they can't because the cost of health care has gone down.
Ask them about job growth and they tell you the jobs are not as good. I'll bet in their opinion no job at all was a better idea?
Ask them if war is a good idea, they will tell you yes, then ask them about the Veterans Administration, they'll tell you they were working on it.
Ask them about maintaining the embargo on Cuba, let them explain how that's working out for them.
Ask them why they won't rebuild American infrastructure fixing roads and bridges, which is the real job maker and watch them run away.
Ask them why they accuse people of going on welfare for having unwanted pregnancies and yet they opposed sex education and contraception.
Ask them why have they done nothing towards equal rights for women?  they have no answer at all.
Ask why they fear same sex marriage and claim it will harm the country, but can't tell you how.
Don't you dare ask them about racial equality they will run away hiding behind their one alleged black friend.
Ask them about climate change, and they deny it's happening as they take off in a private jet.
Ask a Republican any question and see if you get a realist answer, you won't.
Ask a Republican why they keep voting those same tired old white guys into office and it's probably because they don't understand any of the issues I just wrote about.
Ask a Republican why they keep voting the way their daddy did instead of for a person that will actually do the job.
Ask a republican to name one good thing their party has contributed to the nation in the last 16 years.  Let me know what answer you get.
But we all know there is one reason and one reason only, they fear the President not because he's doing a really good job.  It's all about him being black.

The cost of electing a black president billions,  the look on the republicans faces when he won "Priceless", when he got re-elected,  "Priceless"

So here I ask the Republican party to name anything good you've done in the last 16 years.

Would you kill for religion?

Somebody just posted a cartoon mocking your religion, is that a reason to kill?  Recently a group of cartoonist were killed for supposedly making fun of a Muslim profit.  I wonder why a cartoon of the profit could not be drawn making fun of the cartoonist?  I think that would have been a more appropriate response.  Murdering cartoonist is a bit extreme.  Is that really the teachings of a profit? or the teachings of madmen claiming to be acting in the name of a profit.
The almighty no matter what religion you follow made up some loosely crafted ideas on how people could live.
It is the self righteousness of people and their claim to absolute understanding of the almighty's words and thoughts that they claim gives them the right to kill?  When the only one with the right to take a persons life is the one that has given it to them.
Next time you feel the desire to kill someone stop for a moment and ask is that what the almighty would do?  and would it be done for that reason?  When the fire and brimstone come raining down on us then we will have the almighties answer.

Stuart Varney, Fox Host, Gets Hacked By John McAfee In Live TV Demonstation

Today there is a video on YouTube of John McAfee performing what appears to be an impressive hack on Stuart Varney of FOX news.  It's an old trick based on poor security on voice mail systems.  McAfee also cheated because he already knew Varney's phone number.

It's called "Social Engineering" that's where I break into your network with your help. It's not really hacking in the true sense. A real hacker gets in electronically and makes no contact with you at all.
Getting into someone's voice mail is usually pretty easy since people tend to use dumb and simple passwords. To get into your voice mail all I need is your phone number and knowledge of your voice mail system. Many voice mail systems are easy to hack.
No I'm not going to tell you how.
However I will tell you to use a password unrelated to birthdays and other personal events in your life that people can guess.  And don't think you are smart by using 69, we already know that password.

To avoid becoming a victim of 'Social Engineering' use two factor authentication for company security. Never accept a phone number from someone telling you they are from security. Take their name and call them back at the number you know not the one they tell you they are calling from.  Caller Id can be faked,  so that's not good verification either.
If you "Don't have the time for that" then maybe you'll have to find a new job after your company is shut down.

When the IT guy/gal shows up at your desk and you don't know them, then call someone and verify him/her.  Never tell us your password we should have our own.  If they absolutely must log in as you then stay at your computer and watch what they do,  but don't give them your password and change it after they leave.   I love when you leave your computer logged in and go for coffee.  All the files I've copied give me lots of job security.

Please feel free to click on the comments of this post and send us your user Id and Password.  We'll be sure to put it to good use.

JE SUIS CHARLIE Honor the 12- forget the terrorists

Sadly 12 Freedom fighters were killed in France in January 2015.  The Freedom of speech was their weapon.  I think it's important to publish their names and keep their memory alive.  I also am of the opinion that the names of the cowards that committed this crime against humanity should not appear in the press and they should only be referred to as the "Terrorists"
It should become a policy to avoid giving fame to persons that commit should heinous crimes against innocent people.
If there is no fame in their atrocities then it removes the motivation of others to participate.
Only for the purpose of hunting down these animals should their names appear in the papers.  Once captured they should be referred to as "Suspects", after conviction their names should not be mentioned ever again as they are to vanish into obscurity.
Too often these bottom feeders are turned into hero's and martyrs.  Allow the trash to be thrown out and vanish into obscurity,  let's end our fascination with who they are,  and memorialize only those that have suffered.

So today I ask that you remember the 12 freedom fighters let their names and purpose live on.

Things That Just Kill Ya: Safe Sex and Computers

Things That Just Kill Ya: Safe Sex and Computers: Do you practice safe computing?   I have this vision of people wondering after that statement of how to put on a condom on their computer.  ...

Safe Sex and Computers

Do you practice safe computing?   I have this vision of people wondering after that statement of how to put on a condom on their computer.
When you go out on a date don't you wonder who that person is that you are dating?  Some people will run a background check on the person they are dating or about to marry.  He/She could be a mass murderer,  you certainly don't want to date them.

So then why would you open an email from the person in a country you've never been to claiming to have your winning lottery ticket in a lottery you never bought a ticket in?   Let's think this through for a moment.
You just got an email that has an attachment of a file from someone or some business you don't know.  But yet you are going to click on it without taking the time to verify it?   Let me guess you are just so busy you "Don't have the time for that".  I would like to thank all the people that "Don't have the time for that" for all the money I have made cleaning the virus off your computer and trying to save your data.  I really don't need everyone to pay attention there will always be a bunch of folks that don't read about safe computing and keep me flush and to them I dedicate my new car.

For the rest of you that really don't want to pay me a lot of money, well it's easy and I don't mind at all telling you the simple rule of thumb for safe computing.  If you didn't ask for it,  order it, subscribe to it,  or just plain simply don't know who sent it then question it.  Clear indications of someone trying to steal your stuff is when you get an email with a link telling you to click it and change your password.  I promise you that no matter what your password is, was, or was changed to you will never get into that site.  When in doubt go directly to the main page of the company or site you are dealing with.

And for those of you that "Don't have the time for that" I look forward to our encounter.  I charge by the hour and any part there of.  Minimum 2 hours.  So enjoy that Nigerian lottery and your winnings.

Super Cloud Computing is it Harvesting you?

I recently read that some companies are building systems with the cloud as a focus.  Most recently The C4 instances run on Intel Xeon E5-2666 v3 ("Haswell") chips customized exclusively for Amazon, and so the great bookseller is now selling you not just a cloud but their cloud.  What I've experienced using all these clouds is that they are harvesting your information.  Being a Google user I've gotten things like emails telling me I was going to be late for a flight when all I did was email someone my itinerary.  I never told Google when and where I was going yet they alerted me to leave early because of traffic.  Most recently I've been using some cloud services and noticed emails targeting conversations that I've had.  I've clicked on links out of curiosity and suddenly I get more ads on Facebook trying to nail down my interests.

So as a test I created a document that contained certain buzz words and products that I would normally have no need for.  At least things that I was currently not using or looking for.  Sure enough within 24 hours of uploading my document to the clouds I was getting ads and emails steering me towards those products.  Ever since writing my articles around the web on the cloud and it's potential for bad and good I've been inundated with offers to join various clouds.  Clouds for company sharing,  clouds for backups,  and the most annoying of all those clouds that claim to make my life better.  I'm not certain how my life will be better having my personal information floating in cyberspace but I'll upload a bottle of snake oil and see how it works.

Is the cloud good?  Yes, I can access my information without having to tote it around.  It makes my life easier by having access to my information where ever I am.
Is the cloud bad?  Yes, but it's not evil by intent.  As easily as your computer can be hacked so can your cloud.  Unless you encrypt or use an encrypted service.  That's where your information is scrambled up when stored and descrambled when you ask for it.   Is it fail proof?  will you be totally safe?  No!  Will you be safer?  Yes.  I'll be doing a some research all paid for by people with a lot of money to look into this could thing and it's safety factors.   When I'm finished I'm going to publish a copy of some of my findings right here on my little old blog.  Now don't expect the detailed full report that I'm creating I'll be giving you the free version and as long as it's free for me to run my blog you will never be charged.  How ever I do accept donations.   Just click on the link for the Red Cross and make your donation.  I'm checking with the IRS to see if they will let me deduct it from my taxes.  Probably not because I hear they've been in the cloud too.

Did any of this make sense?   I'll take and answer questions if I can.
